Healing BALM began about 10 years ago as a federally-recognized not-for-profit agency primarily as an HIV/AIDS test site.  As time progressed we recognized  the community needs extended far beyond just HIV/AIDS testing.  We began strategic planning in 2005 to bring the agency into a new decade and to provide a multitude of services to meet the every day challenges of individuals and families in our area.  These plans  included changing the name of the agency to more closely match who we are as well as upgrading the services we provide which as of 2008 has reached more than 6400 individuals in just four short years.

Today, Florida Community Prevention Center, Inc. is a community health agency exploring multiple prevention projects that include:  HIV/AIDS Testing and Counseling, Sexual Assault Counseling, Substance Abuse Education and Awareness, Youth Counseling, Data Collection, Evaluation Services, Community Health Forums, Health Training and Seminars, and our most recent expansion of providing Transitional Housing for Displaced Families.

Most of our services are free and open to the general public.  We are especially pleased to be looked upon as experts in the field of rural development.  Over the past two years, we have received a host of  invitations to present at National Conferences on Rural Infrastructure and Prevention Services.  In 2007, we were recommended by a federal project officer as “a model program for prevention services”.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our board of directors, staff, and volunteers we are proud to continue our efforts to build healthier lives in the communities we serve.
